Look at it! With colours by Mark Englert, this beauty absolutely pops. I am in love with this cover, and cannot wait to get my hands on a few copies because there will only be 200 printed in the world!

Now, Phil Hester has long been a favourite artist of mine. He drew THE IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN [written by Robert Kirkman] and it remains one of my favourite comics of all time. Just insane fun and Eric O’Grady was such an interesting character. Imagine being me and reading that comic so many times and loving it and then suddenly I get the artist from that book drawing a variant cover for my comic. Stunned and delighted.

Everything else Hester has done has been fantastic and I’ve always marvelled over his approach to every image and page and the way his storytelling and characterisation just absolutely sings. If you haven’t read his work, my personal suggestion is to go out and find FAMILY TREE asap as his work on that with Jeff Lemire was stellar [and it’s a recent book, so there’s good likelihood of finding it at your local].

To have Phil become part of the Deer Editor Family fills me with a whole new kind of joy. I hope you dig the cover for your reading pleasure and wall framing joy :]

DEER EDITOR #1 lands in about a week in stores worldwide. Here’s what to look for.

Sami Kivela’s cover is what will be on the stands. Hopefully you already told your store to set you aside a copy, if not, get onto them now.

SIGNING EVENT - DEER EDITOR #1 Launch at Impact Comics

I will be at Impact Comics on Saturday 13th January signing copies of Deer Editor alongside Jon Sommariva who has illustrated a special variant cover only available through Impact!

Come to Impact Comics for the launch - and grab yourself the exclusive store variant cover, signed by me and the artist, Jon! It might help to preorder it so stocks don’t dry up on you [you never know].

Cruise on by from midday to 3pm and I’ll sign the variant cover, the regular cover, any other comics of mine you might buy or already have - or we can just chat comics, or life, or whatever.

I haven’t done a store signing in forever - honestly, I just assume no one will turn up so they fill me with dread, but I’m sure this one will be fine [Jon is always good for a crowd and a good time].
